From Nurse to Entrepreneur

Jul 7, 2020
Andrew Osborn
Five years ago I was working bedside as a nurse, grumbling about the lack of influence nurses have in hospitals, and slugging my way through three twelve hour shifts. I realized pretty early that my ability to impact the profession and make meaningful change lie outside of the hospital walls. Helping launch and grow NurseGrid will always be one of the greatest honors of my life. I left NurseGrid after 4 years and 1.5M downloads of our scheduling app.Technology was not the only place nurses lacked custom products though. I am thrilled to join another startup, BALA, creating the ultimate shoe for nurses. Nurses are on their feet all day wearing shoes designed for runners, waitresses, and other professions. Yet again, the nursing community and their voice has been passed over. Seeing the team assembled for BALA and their intense focus on nurses made joining this company a no brainer. Nurses feet need a break and we’re here to provide that.
